Chronic Kidney Disease: Hemodialysis Access

Your kidneys filter wastes and excess fluids from your blood, which are then excreted in your urine. When your kidneys lose their filtering abilities, dangerous levels of fluid, electrolytes and wastes can build up in your body. In ESRD, patients need dialysis or a kidney transplant to stay alive.

Risk factors for developing chronic kidney disease include diabetes, polycystic kidney disease, hypertension, smoking, family history, age, and certain medications.

OFFICE BASED DIALYSIS TREATMENTS

Providing convenient full-cycle care

Connecticut Vascular Surgery offers a variety of services for patients suffering from End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) including fistula creation and maintenance.

Although we always aim to create a durable fistula, we understand that fistulas often require occasional reinterventions. We are able to perform these interventions in our office based laboratory, allowing patients to return to their life as quickly as possible.

Here at CVC we aim to make the process of hemodialysis as easy on our patients as possible.

In 2021, we began our endovascular fistula creation program. This state-of-the-art technology allows for fistula creation in 15 minutes, without need for open surgery. Early clinical data and patient satisfaction are extremely promising.
